SS 304 pipe is the backbone of stainless steel piping in India. Why Choose Stainless Steel 304 Pipe?
Grade 304 resists atmospheric corrosion, fresh water, most food acids, dyes and many organic and inorganic chemicals. It keeps its toughness down to cryogenic temperatures and can be used up to about 870 °C in intermittent service. Because it is non-magnetic in the annealed condition and easy to clean, SS 304 pipe is the default choice for food, dairy and beverage plants, potable-water lines, architectural work and general process piping.
For chloride-rich environments such as coastal sites, swimming pools or brine lines, we usually recommend upgrading to SS 316 pipe. Where a lot of welding is done on thick sections, SS 304L pipe avoids sensitisation thanks to its low carbon.

What is the difference between SS 304 and SS 316 pipe?
SS 316 pipe contains 2–3% molybdenum, which gives much better resistance to chlorides, sea water and acids. SS 304 pipe has no molybdenum and is more economical, making it ideal for general, food and water applications.
Is SS 304 pipe magnetic?
Annealed SS 304 pipe is essentially non-magnetic. Slight magnetism can appear after cold working, bending or welding, which does not affect corrosion resistance.
Which standard applies to SS 304 pipe?
Industrial SS 304 pipes are supplied to ASTM A312 / ASME SA312 TP304 (seamless and welded). Decorative and structural pipes follow ASTM A554, and large-diameter welded pipes follow ASTM A358 or A778.
